The Johnston Family had quite an empire at Queen and Broadview at the turn of the century.Â Johnston Furniture, Johnston Lumber and Washington and Johnston Funeral Home.Â We even had a Johnston Family Tie (where you tied up horses that I saw with my OWN eyes when I lived just over the bridge in the 70's.)

There was a major family rift that occurred in 1929 when my grandfather died, and the funeral was not held at Washington and Johnston Funeral Home because my Grandmother couldn't afford to take the body across the Don River.Â Â
